Introduction
God's punishment of sin was not simply swept under the rug or forgotten; it had to be served. Fortunately for humanity, Jesus Christ received upon Himself the total penalty that was due us; as a result, we are justified before God. We did nothing to deserve it and thus it is a free gift of grace toward us; it is a gift recieved by faith. God is proven just, equitable and kind through His loving action toward us; when nothing else would do, He went Himself to our rescue.
